  • Find Articles - Key databases and journals which examine the impact of distance education on teachers and learners
  • Find Books - Search the Mason and Washington Research Library Consortium catalogs for books which examine the impact of distance education on teachers and learners
  • Find Web Resources - Key websites online education related to distance education
  • Find Online Tutorials -   tutorials on beginning your research, finding & evaluating resources, using Zotero to create citations
  • Write & Cite - Information on Zotero and contacting the Writing Center

Course Assignments

Annotated bibliography
You will contribute a total of 8 scholarly articles on the topic of social presence to the class.  Each article will contain full APA citations.

Research Paper
Write a 4--page, double-spaced paper, using 12 pt. Times New Roman font and follow proper APA style guides. This paper should synthesize the literature. Your paper will need to include references from at least 6 scholarly articles. Your paper will include the first two-sections of a research paper, Introduction and Literature Review.  The final papers will be compiled into the course e-zine, “A Teacher’s Guide to StrengtheningCommunity.”
