SimplyAnalytics: Getting Started

A guide to using the SimplyAnalytics (formally SimplyMap) database to access data related to Census and market research and to create online mapping.

Select Variables

  • Click on Data on the menu, then click on BROWSE BY DATA FOLDER and Select YEAR (2000 as example)
  • Example: Choose, Census US>People and Households>Population>Total>#Population (as shown below)
  • After you finish choosing variable(s), click on X, "Close the side tab to Continue" to move on to the next step.

  • Another option: use SEARCH option to find out what variables are available for your topic

Select Location to Map

  • Click on the locations tab on the left, type location as shown below (ie. Fairfax County, VA as your map area)
  • A map will be displayed automatically (as shown below)

Add Points of Business Location (Optional)

  • Click on Business tab on the right, search your business location (type "learning center") as example.
  • You will see the dot locations appeared on your map.
