Find Data & Statistics: Getting Started

Use this guide as a starting point for locating statistics or data on a topic.

Search Data Repositories & Archives

Google Dataset Search enables users to find datasets stored in data archives through a simple keyword search.

Data Citation Index discovers research data, including data studies, data sets from a wide range of international data repositories and connects them with the scientific literature to track data citation.

DataCite is a large index of research data that can be queried directly to find data and research, to obtain statistics and to explore connections.

Use the following selected, significant research data archives to locate datasets for analysis. Data available in these sources need to be downloaded and used in software such as Excel, SPSS, Stata, R, etc. For looking up data tables and statistics, go to Get Started.

If you need additional sources for a data analysis project and for projects that require a practice dataset, try the sources recommended on our companion guide, Find Data for Analysis.
