Tips for Finding Additional Scholarly and Professional Organizations

Looking for a more sub-discipline specific or regional organization?

  • Both the NCA and ICA (see above) have sections and divisions that are more focused on specific sub-disciplines such as Health Communication.
  • Look at Communication faculty web sites or curriculum vitaes (many have links to them via their faculty profile pages, which you can get to from the Communication Department's web site at http://communication.gmu.edu/people/full_time_faculty).
  • Look at the larger Communication Department web site (http://communication.gmu.edu/) for other references to regional and professional organizations - for instance, under the "Activities" tab, there's a link for the Mason chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, which in turn is connected with the Public Relations Society of America (incidentally, joining student chapters of these organizations can be a great way to get a jump on your career in Communication).
