ProQuest TDM Studio

A guide on how to access and use ProQuest TDM Studio

Part 1: Create Your Dataset

  1. To access the workbench, log in to ProQuest TDM Studio at https://tdmstudio.proquest.com/home and select workbench.
  2. Within a workbench, you can create and have access to ten datasets at a time. Each dataset can include up to 2,000,000 documents. To create a dataset, click the create new dataset button.
  3. In the search box at the top, enter your search terms. View ProQuest's search tips for techniques on how best to utilize the search functionality. You can narrow your search by publication date, publication title, database, source type, and document type. You can also view the most frequently searched databases. Once your search results are 2,000,000 documents or less, click save dataset.
  4. You will be provided with a summary that includes the number of documents within your corpusand your search query. Provide a dataset name and description, read the legal notice, and click create dataset.
  5. A dialog box will appear that says: Submission successful! Your dataset has been successfully submitted. It may take time to process but you can close this message and return to your dashboard to check the status. You will receive an email when your dataset is ready for analysis.
  6. You will be redirected to the workbench. Each dataset includes a name, date range, search, data source, document count, status, date created, an option to delete, and an option to export metadata. When your dataset is being created the status will read in progress, but once it has been processed the status will say ready for Jupyter.
