Finding Tests & Measurements

For research on psychology, you are likely to use psychological tests and measurements. You may also want to study how particular tests you are interested in have been used by other researchers. Searching for tests and measurements can be complex and some tests may not be available.

Some tests, particularly commercial tests, are not free while other tests require users to have specific licenses or credentials.

To begin, use APA PsycTests when searching for tests.

Unpublished tests may be located in many sources, including books, journals articles, dissertations, and ERIC documents.

Using APA PsycTests

PsycTests is the best place for psychology tests.

Using ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Database

Dissertations can be a gold mine for locating sample surveys and instruments, since the dissertation often includes a copy of the test or survey that was used during the dissertation research as an appendix. Use ProQuest Dissertations & Theses to search over 1 million full text dissertations.
