United Nations (UN): A central source for global statistics on all topics. They are best for data on sustainable development, including population, environment and governance, but their portal also includes a wide variety of data from their topical agencies (e.g., UNESCO, UNDP) and partners (e.g., World Bank, WHO, OECD).
For more, visit the UN Statistics Division or the statistics offices of UN regional commissions.
World Bank: A leading source for social and economic development data, with especially strong coverage of poverty, spending, and social programs. Offers tools for exploring, visualizing, and downloading data from the World Development Indicators (WDI) and many other sources.
See also special topic portals for topics like Gender, Education, Poverty & Inequality, Social Protection, and Climate Change.
OECD: The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development provides economic and policy data primarily from high-income democracies and thus is especially strong in education and labor topics. It offers over 300 indicators measuring policy impacts across 100+ countries, mostly OECD members.
