Digital Publishing and Collections Tools

Mukurtu. Mukurtu (MOOK-oo-too) is a grassroots project aiming to empower communities to manage, share, and exchange their digital heritage in culturally relevant and ethically-minded ways. Mukurtu is committed to maintaining an open, community-driven approach to Mukurtu’s continued development. Mukurtu's first priority is to help build a platform that fosters relationships of respect and trust.

Omeka. Omeka provides open-source web publishing platforms for sharing digital collections and creating media-rich online exhibits. Omeka was launched to meet the needs of smaller museums and historical societies who wanted to put their collections online and create narrative exhibits. Omeka provides a free and open source answer to the need for a web publishing platform that allows content experts to showcase their unique knowledge about their collections. 

Scalar. Scalar is a free, open source authoring and publishing platform that’s designed to make it easy for authors to write long-form, born-digital scholarship online. Scalar enables users to assemble media from multiple sources and juxtapose them with their own writing in a variety of ways, with minimal technical expertise required.
