The Libraries are piloting a new, enhanced article delivery service to support Mason researchers who need expedited access to articles from unsubscribed journals. Article Express provides almost instant access to articles from eligible journals. Articles usually appear in the web browser within 30 seconds. This pilot service is available to current Mason faculty and graduate students.
The Article Express pilot currently covers post-2020 content from all unsubscribed Elsevier journals. Starting soon, the pilot will expand to cover (a) unsubscribed Elsevier journal content from 2018 forward and (b) our FY25 journal cancellations. Articles not covered by Article Express are often available via our journal backfile, subscription databases, or open access. For all other articles, please use interlibrary loan.
To use Article Express, search for the article you need in the Mason Libraries Search box on the Libraries website, click on the article you want in the search results screen, then log in to your library account to view request options, and select Article Express to submit a request. You may either download your article from the request screen within a few seconds or check your gmu.edu email for a link to the article. See also our tutorial.
Occasionally article delivery may be delayed. If this happens, please do not place a second request, as the Libraries pay a fee for every request filled.
PDFs delivered via Article Express are for individual research use only. For help obtaining articles to post on Blackboard or Canvas, please email Access Services about Electronic Reserves.
Can I get supplemental materials via Article Express?
Yes. When you receive the email containing your article link, simply hit reply and request supplemental materials.
