Where to Find Scores in Fenwick Library:

There are four main shelving areas (what the catalog calls "locations") in which to find printed scores. They are in the Music Library in Fenwick 2B.

  • Reference Scores: these are mostly composers' complete-works sets in critical/scholarly editions; distinguishable by the blue dots on the spines.

  • Scores Performance editions that include many chamber music PARTS-SETS (trios, quartets, quintets, etc.): these circulate as one set to ONE BORROWER who is responsible for returning all items. (The loss of a part makes the entire set unusable.)

  • Miniature Scores: handy reduced-size "study" scores have their own shelf area and green "MINI" labels on spines or covers.

  • Oversize Scores: very large scores have their own shelf area and red "OVSZ" labels on spines.

  • A small number of non-circulating musical rarities (such as early editions of scores) are located in the Special Collections Research Center at Fenwick Library.
