Library Educational Resources: An Alternative to Textbooks

This guide highlights library-provided ebook and other collections ideal for use as course materials in lieu of commercial textbooks. See also information about Open Educational Resources (OER)!

Reduce textbook costs by assigning Library Educational Resources,

or, library-provided ebooks, articles, and media as required course materials. 

What are Library Educational Resources (LER)?  LER are library-provided electronic resources suitable for use as assigned course materials. Students can access LER on and off campus by using their university login credentials when prompted.

How about Open Educational Resources (OER)? OER are available for many subject areas. The advantages of OER include (1) OER often come with the option to adapt or repurpose the original and (2) OER are not dependent on your institutional affiliation or library budgets.
