ENGH 382: Writing Nonfiction Genres (Professor LaFrance)

Resources for ENGH 382 students.

Find Biographies

First, try searching in Primo, the Libraries' main search. Try terms such as "biography" or "autobiography" along with specific names or keywords. Examples include "biography" AND "Toni Morrison" or "autobiography" AND "journalist."

  Limit to locally-held collections

Another option is to use Mason Libraries databases to look for articles that include biographical information. Below are examples of databases; you can find more on the Mason Libraries Databases page (tip: look for subject databases that fit the person/people that you're researching; for instance, for Toni Morrison, I'd look for databases under "Language & Literature"; for biographies of engineers, I'd check "Engineering.") You may also find reviews of book length biographies and autobiographies, in which case you can use Primo (see above) to look for them at Mason.
