Tips for finding books

Book catalogs often try to categorize books about the same topic with consistent vocabulary. This vocabulary is known as Subject Headings, and can be used to locate books on various topics.

For special education, common subject headings include, but are not limited to:

  • Autism spectrum disorders
  • Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder
  • Children with disabilities -- Education
  • Developmentally disabled children
  • Mainstreaming in education
  • Special Education

If you prefer to browse the shelves for books, look for items in the call number range LC3950 - LC 5160.3.
