Social Media Data and Tools

A guide discussing how to acquire, extract, and use social media data and tools

Social Media Data and Tools

The purpose of this guide is to introduce researchers to social media data sources and tools for extracting social media data. Social media data is often tricky to access and data availability depends on the time period and platform(s) you need to research.

There are many legal and ethical considerations to take into account when accessing and researching social media data. Read through George Washington University Libraries' Social Media Research Ethical and Privacy Guidelines and email datahelp@gmu.edu with any concerns.
