In May 2025, as part of the United States government reduction work, the annual budget for the database ERIC was reduced by 49%. In June 2025, the Institute of Education Sciences (IES), which runs ERIC, released an announcement that the database will no longer index 159 sources (58 academic journal sources and 101 non-journal sources).
Please note this change in ERIC’s indexing does not impact researcher’s access to the database, and all resources indexed prior to the May 2025 budget cut currently remain in the database.

ERIC’s collection of grey literature, including white papers, think tank reports, and policy briefs, proved beneficial for researchers. While no database alternative provides comprehensive coverage for this literature, some alternatives offer partial coverage, including the following options:
