ARTH 315/HIST 316 - History of Modern Architecture

Resources and tips for Prof. Park's History of Modern Architecture course

Find Books at Mason

Search Mason Libraries' Catalog

Tips to find books architects, styles and movements, and images of buildings or sites:

  • Can't find anything about your specific project? Look for work on the architect more generally
    • Books may include chapters on specific projects, which might not be obvious from a catalog search!
  • Consider larger movements (e.g. Brutalism, Art Deco) or architectural concerns (e.g., accessibility, environment)
    • If your project isn't covered in-depth in scholarship, consider its contexts and concerns (social, technical, historical, etc.). How do these issues intersect with architecture and design?
  • To search for materials that include images, add terms like "illustrations," "plans," or "site maps" to your search
  • Limit your search to books by selecting "Mason Catalog" or "WRLC Catalogs" after searching
  • See even more books available at regional libraries by changing your search to "WRLC Catalogs"
    • Request these through the catalog and have them delivered right to Mason!
