The American Sociological Association (ASA), founded in 1905, is the nation's largest sociology professional organizations. ASA members include students, faculty working in a full range of institutions, and people working in government agencies and nonprofit and private sector organizations.
ASA’s mission is to serve sociologists in their work, advance sociology as a science and profession, and promote the contributions and use of sociology to society.

Founded in 1947, the American Association for Public Opinion Research is the leading association of public opinion and survey research professionals.
The AAPOR community includes producers and users of survey data from a variety of disciplines. Our members span a range of interests including election polling, market research, statistics, research methodology, health-related data collection and education.

The American Association of Behavioral and Social Sciences (AABSS) holds an annual conference that brings together scholars from around the U.S. and abroad in order to present scholarship related to a wide variety of contexts, including theory, practice, empirical research, and conceptual advancement.

The Association for Applied and Clinical Sociology (AACS) promotes applying social scientific knowledge and methods to develop constructive solutions.

"Founded in 1970, the Association of Black Sociologists emerged out of a series of conversations in the Caucus of Black Sociologists about how to best advocate for the interests of Black sociologists and Black people domestically and globally. Since its inception, the organization has supported and cultivated scores of Black social scientists and Black community activists in service of intellectual and social organizing for the betterment of Black folks’ lives at all intersections."

GSA is the oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to research, education, and practice in the field of aging.

As the world’s largest academic social science survey and research organization, the Institute for Social Research (ISR) is a leader in developing and applying new social science methods and is committed to educating the next generation of social scientists.

The North American Society for the Sociology of Sport (NASSS) exists to promote, stimulate, and encourage the sociological study of play, games, sport and contemporary physical culture.

The Rural Sociological Society (RSS) is a professional association that
promotes the generation, application and dissemination of social scientific knowledge. The
Society seeks to enhance the quality of rural life, communities and the environment, both in
North America and elsewhere in the world.

Founded in 1934, the District of Columbia Sociological Society is one of the oldest regional sociological associations in the United States. From "DCSS offers opportunities to network with and build a vibrant sociological community in the DC area, promote the rigorous study of sociology and the application of sociological ideas, enhance public understanding of sociology in the DC area, and help develop the next generation of sociologists."

"Founded in 1975, MSSA, Inc. is a non-profit organization providing both professional support to, and a forum for sociologists who teach, conduct research and reside in the Mid-South region of the US."

The NCSA is a regional sociology association serving the areas of Eastern Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ontario, Canada.

The Association for the Sociology of Religion (ASR) is an international scholarly association that seeks to advance theory and research in the sociology of religion. Formed in 1938 as the American Catholic Sociological Society, ASR traces its roots to scholars in search of a hospitable place for both empirical study and social criticism animated by the social teachings of the church. Our 700+ members come from all continents of the world, and their interests and perspectives are just as diverse and global.

The Society for Social Studies of Science (4S) is an international, nonprofit association founded in 1975 that fosters interdisciplinary and engaged scholarship in social studies of science, technology, and medicine (a field often referred to as STS).

Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS) is an international organization of social scientists—students, faculty, practitioners, and researchers—working together to improve the position of women within sociology and society in general.
