Scanning Resources

To use the following pieces of scanning equipment, email Alyssa Fahringer or datahelp@gmu.edu to make an appointment. These scanners are available in the DDSS Lab.

Plustek OpticBook A300

Supports:

  • ​Efficient, high-quality book scanning for documents up to 11 " x 17"
  • Scans an A3 sized page in ~2.48 seconds or a 200 page 8.5 X 11” book in ~20 minutes
  • Book edge design scans book pages without the spine shadow and distorted text associated with book scanning on flatbed scanners or copiers
  • Automatically crops and rotates pages
  • Saves as PDF, searchable PDF, EPUB, BMP, JPG, or TIF

Best used for:

  • Book scanning
  • Multi-page documents that are fragile

Supports:

  • Documents that are standard letter size (8.5” X 11”)
  • Single-page documents
  • Documents that can be disassembled easily and without damage
  • Multi-page documents that are not fragile
