To find photography books on a specific subject, topic, process, etc.:

• Start with an advanced search in the library catalog:
• Change the first search field to "Subject" and enter your topic terms, an artist/photographer's name, or a medium or process
• On the second line, change the search to "Any field" and enter photography

What is a subject search?

Subject searches look for books that have been assigned a subject (like a #hashtag) by catalogers and libraries. Subject searches can be very precise and help limit your searches to materials that are actually about your topic, but they are also not very flexible: unless that specific term has been tagged on a book, you might not see results. One trick is to look for another book that you know is on a similar topic and see what subject headings have been given to that work.
