Hints for Internet Searching

When searching the internet for information, use these hints to help make your search easier and more accurate:

Google is actually pretty good for locating government information (especially from the U.S.).  To narrow your results, just add this statement to your search site:gov.  (this also works for other domains like site:org or site:edu)

If you know the title of a government report that you would like to find, enter it into Google and, if it is available electronically, it will usually be among the top items in your results list.

Looking for articles?  Use Google Scholar instead of Google or another search engine.

To help you find the full text of SOME (but not all) of the journals to which the library subscribes, go to Scholar Preferences and look for the section labeled Library Links.  Search for George Mason University and add the results to your preferences.

Still not getting the full text?  Follow these instructions.
