ProQuest TDM Studio

A guide on how to access and use ProQuest TDM Studio

Sentiment Analysis

  1. Sentiment analysis will open with nine emotions or affective states: anger, disgust, fear, sadness, happiness, love, surprise, neutral, and other. The top menu includes the visualization method; project name; the number of documents in the project; and date range.
  2. You can select which emotions you want displayed by checking the box next to each emotion. Each emotion will be visualized by a line graph visualizing its score throughout the corpus.
  3. Each dot on the graph represents a specific point in time. If you click on a dot, a drawer will open on the right hand side that shows the top 50 articles included in that emotion. If you click on the title of an article, a new tab or window will open and you will be directed to the article itself. Click hide in the upper right hand corner to close the drawer.
  4. You can export your data by clicking the export data in the upper right hand corner. You will receive CSVs of the document metadata, the emotion scores for each document in the corpus, and the emotion scores grouped by year.
