Find Physical Recordings

compact discThere are a several thousand compact discs, DVDs, VHS tapes, and phonograph records available through Mason Libraries. They are part of the media collection of the MUSIC LIBRARY in Fenwick Library (2604). The nearby listening stations include an Ion® analog-to-digital turntable which will convert the music from a record to an MP3 file on your USB flash drive as you play it.

Find Streaming Audio Tracks

Naxos Music Library

  • A comprehensive collection of classical music available online providing streaming access to both standard and rare repertoires. Included are classical, world, jazz, and pop/rock music. Additional resources include libretti, pronunciation guide, and glossary.

Naxos Music Library Jazz

  • Offers a large selection of works by jazz legends and contemporary artists. Recordings of over 32,000 artists are represented. The recordings in Naxos Music Library Jazz come from over 200 labels, and include the catalog of Blue Note Records, Warner Jazz, EMI, Fantasy and others.

Classical Music Library

  • This streaming-audio library includes over 50,000 tracks of recorded classical repertoire by over 1,800 composers from the medieval era through the late present, in most genres. Contents of the library are licensed from over 30 record labels; in addition to playback via streaming, many items can be purchased for download as MP3 or Windows Media Player files.

Smithsonian Global Sound for Libraries

  • A virtual encyclopedia of over 35,000 tracks of music, spoken word, and natural and human-made sounds that includes recordings from the Smithsonian Folkways Recordings label and archival audio collections of the Folkways Records, Cook, Dyer-Bennet, Fast Folk, Monitor, Paredon and others. Browse by musical instrument, geographical area, or cultural group.

  • This database is a comprehensive streaming video collection to support the study of classical music. It provides coverage to a broad range of studies, including music history, music appreciation, music performance, analysis, and theory.

Met Opera on Demand

  • Offers full-length performances from the Metropolitan Opera, including Live in HD productions, classic telecasts, and archival radio broadcast recordings, for high-quality viewing and listening.

Opera in Video

  • This resource offers more than 500 hours of streaming video of Classic performances from the top opera companies and documentaries on specific operas, composers, and companies cover the full range of operatic composition, from the Baroque to the Twentieth Century.

Dance in Video

  • Contains dance productions and documentaries by the most influential performers and companies of the 20th century. Selections cover ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, experimental, and improvisational dance, as well as forerunners of the forms and the pioneers of modern concert dance.
