Print Collections
Mason Alums and the general public may use Mason collections and online sources in person at any Mason Library. For borrowing privileges, the Libraries offer the Library Passport Program.
Electronic / Online Collections
Most of the University Libraries' electronic resources (databases, e-journals and e-books) are governed by license agreements which limit use to current George Mason University students, faculty, staff, and on-site users of George Mason University Libraries.
When access to an online database, e-journal or e-book is purchased, a license agreement is signed with the particular vendor. These various licenses require the University Libraries to restrict off-campus, remote access to current Mason students, faculty and staff only.
Many public library systems provide remote access to online databases, e-journals and e-books. Local public libraries providing remote access to online sources with a current public library card include:
Virginia
- Fairfax County Public Library
- Arlington County Public Library
- Prince William County Public Library
- Loudoun County Public Library
- Alexandria Public Library
- Fauquier County Public Library
- Handley Regional Library (Winchester, Frederick & Clarke Counties)
- Central Rappahannock Regional Library (Fredericksburg)
- Find It Virginia (access requires valid library card number from any Virginia library)
- Collection of databases that provide access to newspapers, magazine and journal articles, and books. Virginians can visit their local public library to register for a library card.
