FAOSTAT
Statistics from the FAO. Choose Production or Trade from the top menu, then Countries by Commodity, and finally use the drop down menu to select your item.
U.S. Census - Per Capita Food Consumption
The tables listed here will give you U.S. Food Consumption Data for Beverages, Major Commodities (meat, dairy, fats, flour, sweeteners, coffee, etc.) and Commercially-Produced Fruits and Vegetables.
USDA's Economic Research Service
Look for reports on your food item under Animal Products, Crops, Policy, or Trade.
USDA - United States Department of Agriculture
Lots of agricultural information focusing on, but not limited to, the United States.
