About the Collections

The e-book collections listed on this guide cover a wide variety of subjects from arts and humainities to science and technology. 

This guide contains links to different types of e-book collections:

  • E-books provided by the Mason Libraries are available to faculty, students and staff both on- and off-campus.  Community members may also use them by visiting a Mason Library. 
  •  Internet e-book libraries, such as Project Gutenberg, are freely available e-book collections available to anyone, anywhere.  

Downloading E-Books to E-Readers

Many of the Mason Libraries' e-book collections allow authorized users to download books to e-readers and mobile devices.  For more information and instruction on doing this, please see Downloading E-books to E-Readers

Featured Collections

Ebrary (Mason) -- Ebrary provides access to over 50,000 electronic books, on subjects including history, management, technology, science and more.     NOTE:  Books may be limited to one user at a time.
EBSCO eBook Collection (Mason) -- Ebsco eBook Collection includes several thousand electronic books, or eBooks on a variety of subjects, including public access books.    NOTE: Some ebooks are limited to one user at a  time. If using a Mac, use the Safari browser for best results.   
Prject Gutenberg Project Gutenberg (Internet) --  Project Gutenberg offers over 42,000 free ebooks that were previously published in print.  Download books or read them online.  Formats include epub books, free Kindle books and more. 

No fee or registration is required.

Great Books Online (Internet) -- The Great Books Collection contains over 300 titles including books, plays, essays, stories, speeches, and biographies.  Browse by Title or by Author.  Includes some Spanish language works.
