Call Numbers for Literature and Creative Writing Books

Print resources for creative writing are located primarily in Fenwick Library.

Here are some call numbers for creative writing topics:

  • PN                          General literature (including graphic novels)
  • PN 172-239            Technique. Literary composition, etc. (books about writing)
  • PR                           British literature and literature from the former British colonies
  • PS                           American Literature

In general, literary works by a single author will be shelved together, which facilitates browsing. However, creative non fiction is often classified by subject; for instance, Michael Pollen's Botany of Desire has the call number "QK46.5.H85 P66 2000" ("Human-plant relationships"). In turn, most of the Libraries' juvenile literature books are in the Fenwick Juvenile Literature Collection on the first floor of "old" Fenwick (i.e. the towers).
