Search for articles in these journals:

Scholarly articles

• Lengthy; include references, footnotes or bibliographies
• Author(s) report original research or experiments
• Academic, professional readership

• Titles like "Journal of the" or "Journal for the"

Popular articles

• Short, terse
• Rarely footnoted
• References seldom listed
• Written by staff or freelancers

• Sold in stores, newsstands, etc

Use these highly recommended databases from the Libraries' Database Portal to find articles. The databases most relevant to ODKM can be found under the Business and International Commerce and Public Affairs and Policy Studies subject categories.

Not all databases offer full-text articles; some will only offer citations or abstracts. To find the full-text of a journal article you must have the complete citation: Article Author, Article Title, Journal Title, Journal Volume Number, Journal Issue Number, Date of Publication, Page Numbers.

There are four ways to obtain the full-text of an article through Mason Libraries resources:

1. The E-Journal Finder lists most of the online journals to which the Mason Libraries subscribe. The E-Journal Finder does not search for specific, individual articles; it searches for the title/name of the journal. Once you have obtained a complete citation, this is your best source to find an article, online, full-text.

2. The Mason Libraries Catalog lists all the journals the University Libraries subscribe to in print. Many journals are not available online due to publisher restrictions, so don't forget to check if the journal is in print in the libraries.

• Journal is not available in the E-Journal Finder or the Mason Catalog? Use the WRLC ALADIN Catalog.

3. The WRLC ALADIN Catalog provides access to the books and journals at schools in the metro DC area. Search the catalog for the title of the journal. If it is available you may request the journal article via the Consortium Loan Service (CLS).

4. If the journal is unavailable locally, the University Libraries can find a library that owns the title. Fill out an InterLibrary Loan request form to request the title.
