How to Read a Call Number
A call number is like an address - it tells where the book is located in the library. Read call number top-to-bottom, line by line
Sample Call Number:
LB
2395
.C65
1991
First Line: read in alphabetical order. Example: LB before LC
Second Line: read as a whole number. Example: 2395 before 2396
Third Line: read the letter alphabetically. Read the number as a decimal. Example: .C6499 before .C65
Last Line: can be publication date, volume or copy number
