Accessing Databases, Electronic Documents, Streaming Videos, etc. Off-Campus

PC protected by a firewall (brick and on fire). Line from the proxy-server to the PC through the firewall with caption 'allowed session via proxy server.' Line from proxy-server to another server with caption 'proxy request.' Line from PC to a server on the internet with caption 'blocked request.'
You don't have to do all your library research on-campus!

Most of the databases, electronic articles, eBooks, streaming videos, or anything else we subscribe to electronically can be accessed off-campus.

All you have to do is use the URLs from the Mason Libraries website. It will route you through the proxy server. What is a proxy server?

You will be prompted to login using George Mason University's login page.

If you are asked to login by anything else, you might have been dropped from the proxy server or bypassed it.

Look for mutex.gmu.edu to be somewhere in the address bar.
