Dissertation Proposal Resources

The purpose of this guide is to highlight library resources and services that will help you when preparing your dissertation proposal.

Borrow Items from Another Library

Inter-Library Loan (ILL) at Mason

The Mason Libraries have over a million books, and access to over 50,000 journals.  But, we still may not have what you need!  Our ILL service can help you get what you need for your research, usually with no cost to you.  See below for more information.

InterCampus Loan

If you are at Fairfax, and the book is in Manassas, we can get it for you.  Submit an InterCampus Loan request to have the book transferred between campuses.  Log in here to submit your request.  You will receive an email when the book has arrived.  Allow 2 to 3 days.

WRLC (Washington Research Library Consortium)

If Mason doesn't have what you need, check the WRLC to see if one of the member schools does.  Search the WRLC catalog .  If you find what you are looking for, click on the title, then click on the red "Request" button to submit your request.  Allow 2 to 3 days for books and articles; articles may be faster since they are delivered electronically.

Inter-Library Loan (ILL)

Sometimes, no library in the DC area has what you need.  Submit an ILL request, and we can check with libraries in other parts of the state or country.  Log in here and submit your request.  Allow at least 1 week for books; articles generally only take 2 to 3 days and are usually delivered electronically.
